About the FarmMeat Family
Get to Know Us
Farm Meat LLC is a family-owned business dedicated to connecting consumers with local farmers for high-quality, locally sourced beef, pork, lamb and goat. Growing up, we relied on word of mouth to buy sides of beef from nearby farmers. Over time, however, we noticed a disconnection between consumers and producers. It wasn’t until we discovered producers within 5 miles of our home through our child’s school that we realized the potential for better connections.
In our quest to find a more reliable source of meat for our freezer, we discovered that traditional word-of-mouth was often the only option. As our family and interests grew, we began raising a small number of cows both for our own consumption and to sell 2-3 head of cows each year.
This journey opened our eyes to the challenges faced by both farmers and consumers. Our platform was created from these experiences, aiming to bridge the gap between the operations and consumers, ensuring trust, transparency, and direct access to locally sourced meats.

Since processing costs can vary with custom cuts, farmers offer flexible options to enhance the purchasing experience. Customers may either pay the processor directly or enjoy the convenience of a combined price that covers both the animal and processing. To make your choice easier and more transparent, we clearly detail whether processing is included in the total price on the Farm Meat product pages. This way, you can confidently compare options and select the best fit for your needs.

Buying direct gives you higher-quality meat, lower cost per pound, and complete transparency. You’ll know how the animals were raised, processed, and what’s included in your order. It’s also a great way to support local agriculture, reduce your carbon footprint, and fill your freezer with food you can trust.

Based on the type of meat purchased and the backup at the processor, it can be a few days or a couple of weeks. For Beef, it is usually aged a minimum of 10 days but can be longer based on the processor. Other meats like pork, lamb, and goat are typically aged like beef, so turnaround at the processor is shorter. Always check with the processor listed for timelines.

Hanging weight refers to the weight of the animal after it’s slaughtered and dressed but before it's butchered into retail cuts. It’s a common pricing standard for bulk meat purchases. The final amount of take-home meat will be about 60–70% of the hanging weight, depending on your cut selections and bone-in vs. boneless preferences.
